The Tacoma is part of the living history of tuna fishing and Coffin Bay.
Lea’s painting, titled “Tacoma“, honours the living history of a vessel that made significant contributions to the development of the tuna and prawn fishing industries in Port Lincoln, South Australia.
This painting has won the 2021 Bendigo Community Bank Art Prize, People’s choice award – Open Category.
Tacoma the vessel, was donated to the Tacoma Preservation Society where it was restored to its former glory and operates today, taking enthusiasts on local cruises and demonstrating the art of pole fishing for tuna.
